Timber Frame workshop - most timbers are locally harvested specifically for this building. All walls will be constructed of natural woodchip and clay infill. All joinery is done in the traditional manner throughout this structure. Each purlin (the horizontal beams connecting the rafters) are dovetailed in, thus creating a roof system that is solidly locked in place. The frame was built by Aum's finest craftsman and took 4 months to complete all of the joining parts. The building was raised in just less than 8 hours.

Japanese Style Bathhouse — The main structure and roof system are all traditional timber frame with some modern framing methods included in the front portion of the building. Wood chip and clay infill make up all of the walls. Radiant heat is built into the floor and there are many windows to take in the view. The building is designed by Aum Construction and is built to the tightest of tolerances by our skilled craftsman.

Owner Designed — This home was designed by the client with some guidance from Aum Construction. It essentially is a hybrid that includes timber frame, natural wood chip and clay infill with modern framing and truss construction. The building is progressing quite quickly. The walls have recently been filled with the wood chip & clay mixture, and are currently drying out before the "scratch" coats can be applied. In addition, all of the windows and front entryway doors have been installed.

Timber Frame with Wood chip/clay Infill and Cob — This home was designed by local designer and consultant Michael G. Smith of Emerald Earth Sanctuary. Michael specializes in natural and sustainable building practices and Aum Construction is delighted to be working on this project.

This building is a timber frame structure and has wood chip and clay infill for the walls. Curved walls and niches are designed into the interior floor plan and separates an indoor greenhouse/sunroom from the main living space.

The walls and cob receive several applications of a straw and clay mixture. These applications continue until a satisfactory consistency is achieved. The final coats will be a special lime and sand mixture with clay added for pigment until the desired aesthetic is achieved. This lime, sand & clay mix can be seen in the images of the buildings' exterior walls.

Contemporary Home on the Ocean — This project has quite the view. Not only for the clients, but for the members of our crew as well! Aum Construction is working closely with LSN Architects, an architectural & interior design firm located in Fort Bragg, CA.

The foundation is poured, the framing is done and the roof is currently underway. Be sure to check back and see the progress of this beautiful home.
